Spinal Energetics™ is a somatic and nervous-system modality developed by Dr Sarah Jane Perri, a qualified chiropractor and holistic counsellor. It brings together Eastern and Western traditions to work with the spine, the nervous system, and the patterns of tension and protection we carry. It's increasingly explored by practitioners in trauma recovery, mental health, and integrative care.
It starts from a simple idea: you are not only physical. The stress you've carried, the experiences that never quite resolved, they settle and organise in the body. This work meets them there, not to override the body, but to collaborate with its own intelligence.
You don't need to believe any of it for it to be worth your time. This work engages your physiology, not your faith. Come curious, come doubtful, come tired. All of those are fine places to start.
It responds to safety.
If you've spent years trying to relax and it hasn't worked, that isn't a failure of willpower. It's physiology. A guarded nervous system can't be talked, pushed, or disciplined into letting go. It softens only when it feels safe enough to.
Under long stress, the body learns to hold: bracing, gripping, staying ready. Those holding patterns kept you going, and then they stayed. This work offers the one thing that actually shifts them, a felt sense of safety, and from there the body begins to settle back toward its middle ground, in its own time.
No working of muscle or tissue.
No cracking or adjustment.
I'm not a healer working on you. I don't fix, diagnose, or heal.
This is collaboration, not correction. Your body already holds that intelligence; my role is to meet it and follow its lead. It isn't a replacement for medical or psychological care, and it works alongside that support, never instead of it.
Because this work speaks directly to the nervous system and can bring a strong physical or emotional response, it isn't the right fit for everyone, at every moment. Before a first session we'll have a gentle conversation, to make sure this is the right work at the right time for you. If it isn't, I'll say so, and point you toward something that fits better.
Most people can't quite explain a session afterwards, and most don't try. What they tell me, in the days that follow, is that they're sleeping more easily, and that something they'd been carrying feels a little lighter. It's different for everyone, and it tends to deepen over time.
No page can quite explain a session. The body has its own way of knowing.
